Marie is attached to the cultural and artistic heritage from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. She draws inspiration from them freely to create timeless jewellery that gives every woman the opportunity to express her style, to emancipate herself and free herself from convention.
Emilie is attached to the power of words, to their ability to instil confidence and to keep a trace of them in the form of singular jewels, whether it's a first name, a year, a town or a memory that build a personal memory.
Their desire to work together came naturally and illustrates the extent to which it is possible to work in the same sector without constantly feeling in competition, and on the contrary to enjoy thinking together.
What they have in common is that they both launched their entrepreneurial ventures in jewellery at the same time as deciding to start a family. Marie was looking for a new professional life following the birth of her daughter Tess, which had become incompatible with the hectic pace of film-making. Émilie was looking for a jeweller to celebrate the birth of her daughter and her name Thea in the form of a piece of jewellery, which triggered the desire to create her own brand.
When they wanted to create something together, they naturally found a common theme: "Free". It's a strong, powerful word that resonates with them and that they want to share with all women who want to express what they believe in through a piece of jewellery. Each of them is free to give it the meaning they want in their own personal history.
That's why they chose to launch 'Libre' on Mother's Day. For Marie and Émilie, this word has the power to pass down the generations from mother to daughter. They like to think that it will be a gift that they'll be happy to give to each other, one way or the other.
"A free woman is an independent woman who assumes her independence without having to depend on others, a woman who lives and expresses herself freely and can defend her ideas.
Marie Poniatowski
"A free woman is a woman who can make her own choices. She can express herself and act according to her values, beliefs, needs and desires."
Emilie Duchêne
